She has also previously worked at the Ministry of Attorney General (BC), Elections BC, the United Nations Environment Programme, Amnesty International and volunteered at other non-governmental organizations.
Shiko grew up in Eldoret in western Kenya, which is known as the “home of champions” for being home to most of Kenya’s world- renowned long distance runners.
As a newcomer to Canada, Shiko is passionate about supporting other newcomers and serves on the Board of Directors of the Inter- Cultural Association of Greater Victoria. She is also a passionate advocate for education of girls in Kenya.
When she is not working, Shiko loves spending time with her husband and 2 daughters, gardening when the weather permits, sharing her culture with others, mentoring young people, and exploring beautiful BC. She listens to Kenyan music to heal her homesickness.
